Eligibility
Clients must: ---Have a physical, mental, or emotional disability; AND ---The disability prevents them from working; AND ---They want to work and think DARS services can help, AND ---They are in Virginia (living, working, or moving here), AND ---DARS certifies that there is a good chance that DARS vocational rehabilitation services will result in their employment. Clients DO NOT need proof of a disability to apply. ---Clients who believe they have a disability, but who have never been diagnosed may also apply.
Fees
All fees are based on a client's ability to pay.
Intake Procedure
Clients must call their local DARS Office to apply. During the initial phone interview, clients will be asked about the following: ---The nature of their disability ---Their job plans ---What records (medical, mental health, alcohol or substance abuse, special education, employee, social security disability, etc.) might help DARS understand their disability ---Names and addresses of schools the client attended ---Names and addresses of any doctors the client has recently seen ---Places the client has worked and when ---Type of medical insurance the client has ---The nature of any transportation issues ---The client's SSN#
