Vetshouse

Vetshouse, Inc is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that provides housing, clothing, counseling and other assistance to homeless veterans of the US Armed Forces. The goal of the organization is to facilitate their return to gainful, independent, responsible and productive lifestyles.

Over 2,500 Homeless Veterans live in the Hampton Roads area. In the area one out of every four homeless persons in Hampton Roads is a military veteran. The veteran population has a disproportional number of veterans who are homeless for a multitude of reasons.

Vetshouse is a unique, nonprofit organization serving homeless veterans in Hampton Roads. The Vetshouse is not a shelter, it is a twelve month program providing the following services: Transition housing in contemporary homes, job placement, personal skills and development counseling. The policy is to provide a hand-up, not a hand out.
Successful residents of Vetshouse, Inc graduate from our program with: Jobs that will assist their needs, sufficient savings to pay their independent living expenses, budgeting and personal skills, enabling self sufficiency, and pride to become productive citizens of the Hampton Roads area

Since 1992, over 500 homeless veterans have been helped over 70% of residents have successfully completed the program.

Intake Process:

The Vetshouse will complete a phone interview with prospective clients and will provide assistance as space opens in one of the homes. The program serves 19 veterans at a time.
