Outreach, Connection and Support

The Virginia Veteran & Family Support Program (VVFS) is operated statewide by the Virginia Department of Veterans Services and provides outreach, connection and support to veterans and their families as they address the challenges of military service, transition, deployments, post traumatic stress or other behavioral health concerns as well as traumatic brain injuries and physical injuries.

Intake Process:

Clients can self refer via phone, e-mail or walk in. A confidential intake assessment is completed by the intake worker who will determine the needs of the client. The resource specialist will work 1:1 with the client to identify the appropriate steps to identify service providers who can meet their need.

Eligibility:

For Veterans with prior service in the US Military, National Guard, or Reserves their service may during any era. The veteran must be a Virginia resident and meet the minimum eligibility requirements. Services are extended to dependents of prior military and service members in some cases. This program's focus is on those persons meeting the eligibility criteria and are suffering the effects of Stress related conditions or traumatic brain injuries.
